Itchen MTB Riders Details

Our aim is to have fun, enjoy the countryside, avoid road traffic and get some exercise. The duration of regular rides is usually about 1 ½-2 ½ hours with longer rides when people feel like more of a challenge and have the time.

Families get involved and ages range from ten years to early fifties. If having fun off-road (and getting dirty and wet) on a Sunday morning appeals to you, come and join us. All are welcome, feel free to just turn up on a Sunday morning. We meet on Cheriton (Hampshire) village green at 08:30 most Sundays all year round and usually have 2-3 people as a minimum riding. Call Rob on 07970 984923 if you want to confirm or check someone will be around beforehand.

Guys ... just wondering whether anybody is interested in a team Jersey for ready for the SDW ride ?

We can alter the details (design, names, colours etc) and sponsors need to be consulted (see below) !!! A typical cost seems to be around £35 per Jersey (short sleeve) but there may be a design fee to share.

Here's a starter for 10 to give you some idea ...

Let me know what you think and if anyone has a flare for design let me know ... as I'm not precious about the mock up above.

Planned South Downs Way Ride - July 2011

Here are the details of the planned traversing of the South Downs Way in July 2011:

Date: planned for 16/17th July 2011, although some people may still have a problem with this date so I'm checking if 8/9th July is a better date. I'll confirm here when people have responded on the final and preferred date.

Riders confirmed:
Rob Pearce
Paul Berryman
Tom Sweeney
Alan Humphreys
Peter Hughes

Possibles (tbc):
Andrew Probert
Jules Anderson

Route details:

The plan is to ride the SDW from Winchester to Eastbourne (106 miles) over two days, with a stop over on the Saturday night at a B&B or Hotel at around 60 miles (leaving 56 miles for the second day).  I'll add more details here as they get worked out.

Logistics:

Current plan (to be confirmed) is to have a minibus with MTB trailer pick all riders up from Eastbourne on the Sunday evening and bring everyone back to Cheriton/Bramdean/Winchester.

Pre ride prep:

Start getting the training miles in now !
Think about getting your bike serviced in good time.
I'll add a list of tools/kit to carry and share between us closer to the time.
If anyone has doubts about their bike and would like to loan/borrow one I may have a source of reasonable spec MTB's we can get hold of for the ride - let me know if you think this could help you.

Other details and keeping current:

If you have any suggestions/questions/comments, add them as a comment to this post or email me and I'll update the main post here so everyone has the same info.

Photo's from previous rides

I've posted a few photo's on Picasa from some past rides. I'll add more when I get a chance. Let me know if you have any problem accessing them.
